Philosophy

Famous Italian fashion brand and worldwide icon of luxury and elegance, Gucci was founded in Florence in 1921 by artisan Guccio Gucci who opened a leather goods and small luggage company in his native Florence, offering bags collections, luggage, gloves, shoes and belts inspired by the equestrian world.

Soon the company reached international fame and, despite the difficulties arose during Fascism, he opened another boutique in Via Condotti, Rome, in 1938.

Nowadays the brand creates couture, accessories and shoes collections, becoming a global billion-dollar company with a name that's been recognizable for generations: iconic pieces such as the “bamboo bag”, the “Jackie O” bag, Jackie Kennedy favourite, the classic clamp moccasin and “Flora”, the Grace Kelly-tribute silk scarf with the original flower print, are still recgnized as staples of the worlwide fashion history.

Guccio Gucci died in 1953, the double “G” logo will be born later, inherited by the founder initials.

Tom Ford become Gucci Creative Director in 1994, relaunching the brand thanks to his provocative and audacious sign, especially appreciated by celebrities and élite: stilettos, silk dresses and metal details characterised his unique and sensual style.

Frida Giannini inherited the maison’s creative direction from 2006 through 2014 launching a new Gucci icon, “La Pelle Guccissima”.

In January 2015 she was replaced by Alessandro Michele, an insider and former head accessories designer who is revolutioning again the brand mixing global fashion trends and '70s lady styles, while adding dashes of comical, boho-chic, gypsy, street and theatrical takes with traditional Gucci prints.
