Philosophy

Belle Ninon is a French total-look womenswear brand of cool and timeless clothes with sober and elegant designs.

The brand is born from the alliance between Ling Liu and Dawei Sun, two young designers from China, passionate about French fashion.

They had both completed art studies prior to entering the Paris fashion school, L'Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture, where they first met.

Ling started her career in Nicolas Ghesquière's team at the Balenciaga studio, then worked for Yves Saint Laurent, at Stefano Pilati's womenswear design studio and subsequently the menswear studio.

Dawei's talents were spotted when he won the 2004 Grand Prize in the "Young Fashion Designers" competition and the "PFAFF Creative prize". His professional career led him to work for Lolita Lempicka's design studio, then Balenciaga and finally John Galliano's workshop for more than 5 years.

In 2009, Ling and Dawei joined force to launch their own fashion brand Belle Ninon named after the 18th century freethinking, literary woman and french author Ninon de Lenclos, a true female pioneer of her time.

Drawing inspiration from her, they create a range of retrò yet feminine dresses, trousers, shirts, and coats for a strong yet charming, intellectual but playful women.

Between 2011 and 2013, they were also appointed by the classic French brand Cacharel as new artistic directors.

In April, Ling Liu and Dawei Sun won a prestigious jury prize at the 2011 Elle New Talent Fashion Awards and the French Ministry for Culture and Communication with the aim of developing young fashion design.
