Philosophy
Jay Godfrey is a New York-based women's clothing brand of sleek, sexy and sophisticated designs.
Canadian-born designer Jay Godfrey moved to New York City to work as a Wall Street trader, but ended up specializing in a wholly different business: designing flattering women's clothing. After attending Parsons School of Design, Godfrey landed a coveted internship at Oscar de la Renta, and founded his eponymous collection.
Inspired by the chic women he encounters on the streets of Manhattan, Jay Godfrey combine the classic tailoring techniques of Savile Row with modern cuts and luxurious fabrics.
The result is his distinctive contemporary collection of coquettish dresses and separates that accentuate the feminine silhouettes.
The collection has caught the media’s attention and has been featured in WWD, ELLE, Cosmopolitan and the New York Post.
Jay Godfrey’s evening gowns, maxi-dresses, and cocktail frocks have appeared on Eva Longoria Parker, Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Mendes, Angie Harmon, Eve, Leighton Meester, Petra Nemcova, Sarah Michelle Geller and Blake Lively.
In 2008, Parsons The New School for Design presented the designer with the Parsons Alumni Achievement Award in recognition of his talent and recent accomplishments.
Jay Godfrey’s collection is sold in Bergdorf Goodman, Intermix, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Holt Renfrew as well as numerous luxury boutiques worldwide.
