Philosophy
The Belgian fashion designer Haider Ackermann, born in Colombia, attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium and in 2001 he debuted in Paris Fashion Week with his pret-a-porter womenswear collection, acclaimed by press and critics.
During his career, Haider collaborated with successful brands including Ruffo, the Italian fashion house of luxury leather.
Haider Ackermann's work looks for contrasts, mixing haute couture and low culture, elegance and streetwear.
In his experimental aesthetics, purity and simplicity meet fervor and vitality; as a globetrotter, he inherited a love for nature, customs differences and traditions among peoples.
His dramatic and seductive poetry communicate fragility of a romantic and nostalgic androgynous woman.
From his stylistic research, Haider Ackermann creates unexpected forms which echo the agave leaf: suede draped vest, cashmere and wool gowns with high collar and train, stretch knee skirts, longer on the back.
Fabrics converge and intersect on the clothes: layers of fur and wool , clinging to the body as a plant.
Leather jackets with wool sleeves, waxed stretch leggings looks like a second skin, while jersey or felt long skirts wrap the female body revealing legs thanks to deep slits.
