Raf Simons

Philosophy

The Belgian designer Raf Simons launched the homonymous brand of clothing and accessories in 1995; at first he worked as industrial and furniture designer, then Simons  became one of the most important innovators in men's fashion.

Simons made his debut in the Fashion business creating outfits inspired by menswear, youth rebellion movements, punk, goth, and mod.

An independent and unusual mood is the main focus of Simons’ collections.

Raf draws dry silhouettes with strong references to the traditional fashion but also architecture, music, art and young British culture, with a great attention to detail and impeccable cuts and classic fabrics.

Adverse to traditional aesthetic, Simons chooses young teenagers models for his fashion shows, often recruited in the narrow streets of Antwerp.

The designer, proud of his own individuality, proposes an intellectual independence, expressed through the personal stylistic choices, freed from the strict rules of fashion.
