Philosophy
Abeer Al Suwaidi is a Dubai-based womenswear brand known for a trend-setting work with abayas and for transforming the traditional garment into contemporary works of art, while maintaining great respect for arab culture.
Raised in a multicultural environment in Abu Dhabi and exposed to varied influences, Abeer grew up watching theatre and listening to eclectic music, honing in on international perspectives, while staying true to her ethnic roots.
After a major in Communications Technology from Dubai Womenís College, she gave reign to her passion for fashion as a full-fledged business.
Driven by creativity and originality, Abeer soon set about launching new concepts and trend-setting innovative abaya styles and materials: skinny, illustrated, fitted with corsets, made of cotton, jersey and knotted fabrics. She has also introduced vibrant colour, spikes, epaulettes and harnesses to this typical feminine dress.
Abeer believes that fashion is an essential part of every woman’s life, and expressing oneself through clothes is a natural extension of both person and personality.
Inspired by both fusion and futurism, she personally admires the cutting-edge work of international designers Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto, AF Vandevorst.
Abeer Al Suwaidi has won regular applause at the Dubai Fashion Week since 2009, and is stocked at her showroom-boutique USH and in other important department stores such as Bloomingdale’s.
