Philosophy

Edwin is a Japanese brand of denim.

At first it was a military uniforms store, founded by Tsunemi Yonehachi Shoten, in Tokyo in 1947.

Then his son Shuji Tsunemi took over the company in 1961.

Mr. Tsunemi studied in USA, where he bought lots of vintage jeans; he imported them to Japan, creating the first made in Japan denim.

Edwin is a prestigious jeans brand specialized in rich details, washing and fitting processes.

The name is the anagram of the word DENIM (reversing the "M" in "W").

The Japanese company uses hand looms to produce fabrics, using natural fixing and traditional dyes which are produced with handed down compositions.

Mr Tsunemi revolutionized denim industry, experimenting and proposing several washes.

The "ringspun" process  make the cotton softer, maintaining its durability and strength.

In 1980, Edwin invented the "stone washing" and one year later it created the "new vintage" concept, replicating several 1947 vintage washes.
