Philosophy
Yoana Baraschi is an american total-look clothing brand for women characterized by feminine silhouettes with bohemian embellishments and intricate embroideries.
Designer Yoana Baraschi, born in Bucharest, Romania, was immersed in art and style and culture from a very early age. Raised in a family of artists, their influence shaped her view.
In the late 70s, after a BA in Sculpture at the Fine Arts Institute of Bucharest, Yoana left communist Romania for Paris where she started her careear working as embroidery designer for Emmanuelle Khahn, Cacharel, Mugler and then on to New York where she was an illustrator for WWD and also designed textiles for various studios.
She went on to work in shoe design in Italy, in the import business, and as Design Director for Guess Knitwear. Following her tenure as Creative Director for Betsey Johnson, Yoana launched her own collection in 2002.
She constantly draws inspiration from her travels around the world: in Italy was exposed to the finest traditions of craftsmanship, while in India she formed her strong sense of color and love for traditional artisanal techniques, which can be found heavily throughout her collection.
Yoana Baraschi’s tailored yet romantic designs illustrate her mastery of juxtaposition and her ability to create beauty through the unexpected pairings of textures and silhouettes that flatter the figure. Each season, her signature prints, whimsical patterns and embroideries add dimension to the collection. Her delicate, feminine designs reflect her fine art heritage while incorporating vintage references and a sense of humor.
Yoana Baraschi has quickly become a go-to favorite for Hollywood’s most dynamic women: from burlesque artist Dita Von Teese to supermodel Heidi Klum. The line is sold in Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Henri Bendel and Bloomingdale’s, and over 500 specialty stores worldwide.
