Issey Miyake

Philosophy

The Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake founded his maison in the 70’s; this eclectic artist is popular for her pleated polyester made on the finished garments.

The avant-garde designer overlaps cultures and different influences, dark tones and colour mixes, focusing on technological and creative research, not forgetting the traditional Japanese fabrics and craftsmanship.

Lover of an essential style, Miyake has always experimented architectural volumes and sculptural designs; he presents current issues, but strongly oriented towards a future time with new proportions and high-tech materials: combat suits, trousers with kaleidoscopic patterns, duvet jackets and optical and iridescent coats.

At the "21 21Design Sight" exhibition in Tokyo, Miyake presented some designs which reflect the limited use of fossil fuels, proposing recycled paper clothes,  handmade with the "washi" manufacturing.
