Philosophy
Adeam is a luxury ready-to.wear fashion brand founded by designer Hanako Maeda.
Maeda bypassed a traditional design education and studied art history and anthropology at Columbia University while pursuing her love of fashion with internships at Allure, Vogue, Phillip Lim and ultimately an intensive design course at Parsons in Paris.
Following a stint in PR in Tokyo, she took the leap into design and showed her line in Shanghai and Tokyo before setting up shop in the US.
Each Adeam collection draws inspiration from outside the world of fashion, such as from music, art and theater.
Born in Japan but grew up in the U.S.A., Maeda's approach to design was shaped by duality of place: mixing east and west, traditional with modern and avant-garde with wearable.
By combining those two perspectives, she has found a modern, relevant aesthetic: clothes are both creative and intellectual, but also make a woman feel beautiful.
