Junya Watanabe

Philosophy

The Japanese fashion designer Junya Watanabe, protegé of Rei Kawakubo the popular designer of Comme des Garçonne, collaborated with several brands.

Watanabe proposes informal and sartorial total look, a daring style without excess: like the cotton and nylon umbrella cape for the evening, or the tulle caban "tangle of Anthurium" style.

Collections are beyond the stereotypes, characterized by communication research, sculptural shapes, asymmetries, fabrics “mixmatch”, precious polyurethane down jackets, polyester, crepe georgette.

Denim, linen and cotton, wool gabardine in several shades such as dark gray, black, white, or the hottest colours, African patterns, checks and optical prints.

Overlaps and hound's-tooth cloth, drapes, over-size cardigan and short dresses over leggings; a real chic and 30’s style.

The brand focuses on creativity with the accessories: British hats and turbans, or with the outerwear, such as jackets with particular inserts or diagonal buttons.

Shirts with raw seams are matched with rolled up jeans.
