Philosophy

Hermès is a French haute couture fashion house which produces leather items, luggage, handbags and accessories.

The brand known in the luxury business was founded by the creative saddler Thierry Hermès in 1837, who opens a saddler and harness horse shop in Paris.

In 1870 he transferred manufacturing in rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, the historical base. Founder grandson, Emile-Maurice, began in 1920, the buckskin items production, and Lola Prusac designed for Hermes, nine years later, its first womenswear line.

Later the company increased its range of products creating many cult accessories, placing it in the fashion history.

Hermes icons were born after the war, as the “collier de chein” belt.

In the 1935 it launched a first version of Kelly bag, its cult accessory, inspired by the equestrian world.

This item will become famous thanks to Grace Kelly, photographed on “Life” cover.

Loved by celebrities, “Kelly” took its name by the popular Princess and actress, who is still a muse for young designers.

The brand has also revisited it in 7 different sizes, shades and materials, from ostrich leather to lizard skin.

It stands out for the metal closing, with the padlock or key, hidden in the insert or hanged in the handle.

Hermes promotes the particular idea of innovation in traditions, it revolutionizes Fashion with new processes as "ready-made" (1949), between ready-to-wear and tailoring, with the women cotton dress, the legendary "Hermeselle".

Most prestigious Hermes items are scarves, ties and handmade small leather goods.
