Barbour

Philosophy

Barbour, founded in 1894, is a well-known British brand specializing in outerwear, whose image is linked to the hunting and equestrian world.

Originally John Barbour used to sell jackets and outerwear to fishermen, sailors and workers in the seaside town of South Shields, with the brand Beacon.

The Barbour brand is popular worldwide thanks to its waterproof jacket in waxed cotton, which became a cult in the 80’s and 90’s.

At the beginning of XXth century Malcolm, John Barbour’s son, started the mail-order items shopping, extending the brand's target to all the outdoor workers .

Barbour later launched a collection inspired by motorcycling and today it proposes several designs of jackets, accessories and clothes, including quilted sleeveless jacket, waistcoats and sweaters.

The patented wax is sold in the brand’s flagship stores, in order to help out the treated or reprocessed garments; Barbour’s wax meets different performance, greatly increasing the resistance to scratching stress and weathering.
