Philosophy
The Chinese designer Uma Wang launched her own womenswear label in 2005; after her studies Central Saint Martins in London, she decided to create high quality clothes, balancing fashion and functionality with multi-layers fabrics.
Simple but strong aesthetic impact, Uma Wang’s creations include tailoring skills which focus especially on knitwear.
She has quickly became the most successful Chinese designer in the world, won over her audience with collections inspired by the wandering souls of nomads, able to rejoin the customs and cultures of other people in the world.
Combination of materials and unusual cuts, highlighted by fluid forms are evident in the Wang’s collections, made to assume the appearance and personality of the wearer.
Uma Wang often intentionally destroy garments in order to enhance the typically human imperfections, which appear as oversized rags in the monochrome shades like black, white and beige.
