Philosophy

The brand Prada was born in 1913, when Mario Prada, creator of bag, luggage and leather accessories, turns his Milan boutique in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, into the most prestigious destination for lovers of luxury and timeless accessories.

The griffe success is consecrated after two generations, thanks his granddaughter Miuccia Prada, a theatre, fashion and travels great fan.

At first Miuccia is appreciated for her innovative use of fabrics, launching a simple and modern bag collection in 1985, characterized by a shiny black fabric and made with the parachutes nylon.

Prada becomes with her an icon of exclusivity, elegance and womenswear, haute Couture and prêt-a-porter, known all over the world for its collection of accessories, precious clothes and charming total looks.

It differs from the other Italian brands, arousing an Italian style, simple, chic and minimal: an avant-garde taste but, at the same time, a bit retro, which plays collections characterized by a study of materials and product innovation.

Recently Miuccia breaks old patterns and frees collections from seasons, proposing a continuous flow “packages” series, looking towards East, choosing bright colours and garish patterns.

She frees creativity and shapes makes way to soft and voluptuous dresses, putting the beloved stiff fabrics aside.

Miuccia creates her first womenswear collection in 1988, then “Miu Miu”, the chic second line created for young women in 1993.

In the same year Prada launches also the menswear.

Finally, from 1997, the Sport line is synonymous of technical, casual wear and Red line.

During the 90’s Prada collections, Miu Miu and Prada Uomo were awarded for the excellence of Made in Italy and for fashion.
