Philosophy

Salvatore Ferragamo is a well known haute couture griffe founded in Florence in 1927.

In 1919 Ferragamo improves his skills opening his footwear workshop in California: he moved to USA from Italy and thanks to his mastery he became the “Shoemaker of the stars” with his boutique, the "Hollywood Boot Shop".

He invents the cork wedge, the first patent in fashion industry.

Ferragamo incredible creativity and fame remain unchanged after the Second World war, when the designer starts using unusual materials for his creations as raffia and cork.

Salvatore Ferragamo received several awards for his work and his avant-garde, visionary personal style.

He takes inspiration from Australia and from Egyptian archaeological discoveries: in the 30’s created the pyramid heel pumps, later the invisible sandal.

Thanks to this new proposal he won the Neiman Marcus, as known as the Oscars of Fashion.

In the 50’s the brand achieved an international fame and the designer launched his iconic designs such as the Kimo sandals, a suede flat for Audrey Hepburn, the velvet mini-boot for Brigitte Bardot, the gold sandal.

Silk ties, scarves, “Vara" flat and "Gancini Bag" become Ferragamo icons, which have been always refreshed over the years.

The handbag with the "gancino" (buckle) is one of the first Ferragamo creations.

He started handbag production in 1965 and then he enlarged his product range: ready-to-wear women during the 60’s and menswear in the 70’s.

In 2004, the brand launched a new work process for its footwear: the customized “lavorazione tramezza”.
