Y-3

Philosophy

Y3 is a brand of chic sportswear, born thanks to the partnership between the German sportswear brand Adidas and the Japanese designer avant-garde  Yohij Yamamoto.

The brand designs sportswear, according to the visionary fashion of Yamamoto.

The choice of  Y3 name-logo highlight the brands partnership; in fact “Y” is the designer’s initial and 3 is the number of Adidas’ stripes.

It all started with a daring reinterpretation of the three stripes by Yamamoto, who created a women's capsule collection of footwear called “Yamamoto for Adidas”.

The partnership won over customers and critics and turned into a real brand, with Yamamoto as Creative Director of the third Adidas division, the "Sport Style".

The Japanese designer deconstructs the traditional rules, anticipating the future of sportswear.

Collections are characterized by simplicity and functionality, inheriting by its designer an innovative mix of hi-tech and nobles fabrics, unusual silhouettes which ignore the physical boundaries and emphasize the geometric designs.

The all-present total black is rarely interrupted by flashes of white and gray.
